- Bumped into this guy at the DJ Dee show on Wednesday. Under Zia’s incredulous glance, I spontaneously started telling him how much my mother and I had enjoyed his show, though I’ve been underwhelmed by other Québécois standups. Only afterwards, when Z asked me if I knew him, did I realize that it might have been a slightly ridiculous thing to do, but at the time it felt completely natural. Isn’t it a sign of old age to no longer care about being ridiculous?

- I love how the shortness of the fair season forces Montrealers to jam pack much of their living into a few brief, Mojito-drunk months. It’s a happy time full of glowing beautiful people, and the terrasses and barbecues are filled with smiling, sunkissed faces.

- Did the yearly 10K on Saturday and I was concerned because, on the trainer’s advice, I hadn’t run more than 5K in the last three months. But it went off well and I beat my personal record of 1:02.33, 21st out of 33 last year with a new time of 0:53.55, 9th out of 50 this year. Who’d have known that weight training would help so much with running? Thanks to all who helped me raise money, it was for a good cause!

- I’ve been seeing a certain Québécois rockstar everywhere I go. If I get ever old enough to really not care about being ridiculous, I might confront him about being so obvious in stalking me.

And finally,

- Insomnia sucks, but it’s as good a time as any to blog.
