On Day One there was a strike, so no work. On Day Two, we got evacuated at two pm. Today, we got evacuated at noon. It’s quite chaotic here now, the unrest just feeds on itself. Angry protesters on the news show fresh holes all over their bodies from soldiers’ shotguns, enflaming more people and causing more people to descend into the streets, causing soldiers to get more trigger-happy…

Meanwhile, I’m having an okay time. I’m happy I made it to my hotel okay today, but I had to rely on the goodwill of a Venezuelan coworker, because no taxis would come get me. So today I will enjoy the heat and pool, but there’s a definite unease. Last night I was awoken by demostrators; there isn’t much more to do than to wait it out.

I think I might just have my excuse if I don’t want to come back here in January anyway…
